HOW TO PLANT

Stratification: Peach seeds require a period of cold stratification to break their dormancy and encourage germination. Place the cleaned and dried seeds in a plastic bag with a damp paper towel or some slightly moistened vermiculite. Seal the bag and place it in the refrigerator for about 8-10 weeks.

Potting Mix and Containers: After stratification, prepare small pots or seed trays with a well-draining potting mix. You can use a mix of potting soil, perlite, and vermiculite.

Planting: Plant the stratified peach seeds about 1 inch deep in the prepared pots or trays. Water the soil lightly after planting.

Germination: Place the pots or trays in a warm and sunny location, such as near a south-facing window. Peach seeds typically germinate in a few weeks to a couple of months. Be patient and continue to provide consistent care.

Transplanting: Once the seedlings have grown a few sets of true leaves and are strong enough to handle, they can be transplanted into larger pots or directly into the ground. Choose a location with well-draining soil and adequate sunlight.

Care and Maintenance: Water the seedlings regularly to keep the soil evenly moist. Fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

Thinning: If multiple seedlings germinate in a single pot, you may need to thin them out, leaving only the strongest seedling.

Pruning: As the seedling grows, consider pruning it to encourage a strong central leader and well-spaced branches.

Keep in mind that growing peach trees from seed can result in variations in fruit quality, size, and taste compared to the parent plant. Additionally, it can take several years for a peach tree grown from seed to mature and potentially produce fruit.
